SF Symphony

The Symphony is dedicated to music education for everybody. Its innovative programming spans traditional classical musical performance to collaborative experimentation with community partners from diverse cultural disciplines. The beauty of the Symphony is that it brings together diverse audiences committed to this spectrum. Its ingenious digital programming during the pandemic brought music into homes throughout the world. Public school children in San Francisco all receive musical education through the Symphony, and all patrons are treated to new ideas and powerful creative musical experiences.

“The San Francisco Symphony presents more than 220 concerts and presentations annually for an audience of nearly 450,000, and through the  launch of our new online streaming service SFSymphony+, we have dramatically expanded access to musical experiences around the world.

A cornerstone of the organization’s mission, the San Francisco Symphony’s education programs are the most extensive offered by any American orchestra today, providing free comprehensive music education to every elementary school student in the San Francisco public schools; instrumental instruction and coaching to every middle and high school ensemble program; and serving more than 75,000 children, students, educators, and families annually.

In 2020, the Symphony introduced the digital Music Connects program, which offers a activities, lessons, and experiences that support music education at home.
